When it comes to wedding venues in Madison, few places are as stunning, thoughtful, and versatile as The Eloise Mt Horeb. As Madison wedding photographers, Ryan and I have had the privilege of capturing many weddings here. And each time I’m reminded why it’s such a favorite among couples. This summer, we had the honor of capturing Cierra and Alex’s wedding at The Eloise wedding venue. Their day was the perfect example of why this modern barn is such a dream location for couples (and photographers 🙂).

Leading up to their day, the forecast showed heavy clouds, and I couldn’t stop thinking about one detail from their wedding questionnaire. When asked what mattered most for photography, Cierra wrote “golden hour photos!” I’m usually pretty optimistic when it comes to the weather, but clouds seemed pretty likely, even on the morning of.

But the day unfolded in the most beautiful way. The skies stayed soft and bright, giving us gorgeous light throughout the ceremony and portraits. And then the clouds cleared at sunset, giving us a breathtaking sunset at The Eloise. And I will say, golden hour at The Eloise is hard to beat!

We spent time wandering the fields, capturing Cierra and Alex in that dreamy light. We even went across the street for a slightly different view. Those images quickly became my favorite part of their gallery.

The ceremony itself took place inside the upstairs ceremony space. As Cierra walked down the aisle, her face said everything. Overwhelmed with emotion, awe, and joy at seeing Alex and everyone gathered together. After the ceremony, they literally sprinted back up the aisle together. They stopped halfway for a kiss before running the rest of the way. That pure relief and happiness carried into the rest of the evening, making their portraits relaxed, joyful, and fun.

Inside the reception space, family and friends celebrated with emotional toasts and special dances, including special moments honoring Cierra’s late father (who I believe had something to do with that golden hour 🙂).
