A downtown wedding venue: The Tinsmith in Madison WI
The Tinsmith in Madison WI is a premier downtown wedding venue, and as a Madison wedding photographer, it’s one of my favorites for wedding photos! The solarium (I might call it a greenhouse wedding venue, even though it’s not technically a greenhouse) is an amazing space for photos! It has tons of natural light, but the walls and ceiling also diffuse the light – a photographer’s dream. I love wedding venues like this, especially in Wisconsin, because they are perfect for any time of year. If it’s freezing outside or raining, you will still get beautiful natural light photos inside!
The Tinsmith has a separate ceremony hall, so there’s no reception “flipping” needed. The reception space holds up to 200 people seated, and the solarium is often used for cocktail hour. The venue also has a beautifully decorated bridal suite, so you can get ready right on site.
Because of its location downtown, it’s within walking distance to Madison hotels, restaurants, bars and entertainment (for your guests who are staying a while!). It’s an ideal location if you’re also hoping to take some wedding photos in downtown Madison, near the capitol building.
Getting Ready at The Tinsmith
The Tinsmith has a beautiful, light and airy bridal suite. It makes for a great place to get ready with your wedding party, and makes for some beautiful getting ready photos!
Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony space is also light, airy and modern. According to the Tinsmith website, the rental includes chairs for up to 200 in the ceremony hall.
Cocktail Hour and Reception
As I mentioned before, the cocktail hour and reception space is separate from the ceremony hall, so there is no flipping needed. The 4-season solarium is the perfect place for cocktail hour. It’s heated and cooled, depending on the season. It includes a bar, cocktail tables, lounge seats and year-round plants. So even in the winter, you get a taste of summer! The reception space also has a stunning bar for guests to enjoy. It seats up to 200 as well.
Wedding photo locations around The Tinsmith
Truthfully, you wouldn’t even have to leave The Tinsmith to get a beautiful variety of wedding portraits. That’s especially reassuring in the case of bad weather! The solarium/greenhouse is a stunning place for indoor, natural-light portraits – not something you find in many Wisconsin wedding venues! You can also take some great outdoor portraits on the patio, and around the building.
If you do want to hit some other iconic Madison locations for photos, The Tinsmith is conveniently located! It’s a quick drive to the capitol building. James Madison Park, and Tenney Park.
