An Abbey Springs Wedding

Julia and Brennan had a beautiful Abbey Springs wedding in July. Abbey Springs is a golf club and wedding venue situated on Geneva Lake. I’ll let the photos do most of the talking, but it is a beautiful place for a wedding!

Lake Geneva is a popular vacation spot in Wisconsin, and it’s also a beautiful place for a wedding! There are so many gorgeous wedding venues in Lake Geneva, and we’ve been lucky enough to photograph weddings at several of them. One of the best venues in Lake Geneva is Abbey Springs. It’s technically in Fontana, WI on Geneva Lake. Not to be confused with the Abbey Resort! Although, that is a beautiful wedding venue too.

To be fully honest, I used to think of Lake Geneva as a “hidden” vacation spot. I had always heard of it, but never been there before we started photographing weddings. It’s kind of in an unsuspecting location, but once you get there, it’s like you’re in a whole other world!

Julia and Brennan’s wedding happened to fall on my 30th (!!) birthday weekend. I reassured them that my birthday weekend always brings beautiful weather. I was worried I would have to eat my words, but thankfully I didn’t! It was a gorgeous summer day, and they had the most beautiful Abbey Springs wedding.

These two said “I do” with the lake as their backdrop, surrounded by family and friends. They focused on being present and fully enjoying their day, and they did it so well.

From gorgeous flowers by Lily Forest Designs to the beautiful setting of Abbey Springs to live music by Bluewater Kings Band, it was an unforgettable day.

A wedding and a birthday weekend

Ryan and I got to spend a few extra days in Lake Geneva before and after Julia and Brennan’s wedding too! I’m so glad we took the time to explore the town, and the lake of course. It’s probably one of my new favorite spots in Wisconsin, and it’s less than an hour from where we bought our new home last summer!

We spent my birthday jet skiing (second birthday in a row where we rented jet skis – not really sure why this has become a thing, but I love it!). On my last birthday, we rode in tandem, and Ryan managed to flip me off the back of the jet ski. This year we got separate ones 🙂

We made candles at the Candle Mercantile, and went out for dinner and drinks!

One of the best Lake Geneva Wedding Venues

Abbey Springs is a country club and wedding venue in Lake Geneva that can hold up to 200 guests! The venue has great options for indoor and outdoor ceremonies and receptions. The clubhouse banquet hall makes for a great reception hall, but could also be a beautiful backup option for an indoor ceremony. The venue also has a lakeside tent that overlooks Geneva Lake. Julia and Brennan chose to have their ceremony outside, in front of the lake. Then, they hosted a cocktail hour in the tent. Finally, guests moved inside for the clubhouse reception! The wedding photography options at this venue are great too – from the lake to the Lake Geneva Shore Path to the golf course. We loved taking photos of their guests on the clubhouse balcony too!

An Abbey Springs Wedding Reception

The windows around the clubhouse make for gorgeous natural light! The balcony outside of the clubhouse provides a great space for guests to hang out and mingle. The reception space is sophisticated and elegant.

Abbey Springs Golf Course Wedding Photos

Golf courses almost always make for photogenic backdrops. But pair it with this beautiful golden hour we had, and these photos are some of my favorites from Julia and Brennan’s day! The glowing sun, the beautiful golf course and gardens, and of course these two. I always highly recommend taking 10-15 minutes out of your wedding reception to take some golden hour photos. We walked down to the golf course from the clubhouse, and it was worth every moment!
