A Discovery World Wedding: A classy, timeless Milwaukee wedding!
There’s just something so classy about a city wedding. And this Discovery World wedding encompassed everything Milwaukee has to offer.
I loved the timeless, elegant feel of Alicia and Mike’s wedding. From her simple, yet stunning gown, to his black tuxedo. From our trolley ride around Milwaukee to their beautiful wedding reception at Discovery World. We got the best of the city, and the shore!
As much as I love an open, grassy field, I equally love the variety, character and feel of the city. We took photos by the riverwalk, in the Third Ward (their photos in front of the Milwaukee Public Market are some of my favorites!), and in Lake Park. We used the pier right outside of Discovery World to get a few beautiful skyline photos.
The day started with a little rain, but it made for some super cute umbrella photos near the Milwaukee RiverWalk! Thankfully, Alicia and Mike and their wedding party had a dry trolley to hop on in between photography locations.
The rest of the evening turned out perfectly for an outdoor cocktail party and skyline pictures between Discovery World and the Milwaukee Art Museum!
Alicia and Mike’s wedding was beautiful, classic, timeless and complete with a huge room of family and friends ready to celebrate.
One of the best wedding venues in Milwaukee
We love Discovery World weddings, and we think it’s one of the best wedding venues in Milwaukee for a few reasons!
As wedding photographers, we always have to talk about the light 🙂 With its large and plentiful windows, the reception space inside Discovery World lets in tons of natural light. It’s a dream for photography (especially for those beautiful reception details!), and it creates such an open, inviting atmosphere for your guests. There is plenty of room for dancing, and for guests to spread out.
Discovery World is right on Lake Michigan too! The building itself is great as a clean background for some portraits. The rocky pier that juts out into the lake is a dreamy spot for golden hour photos. From one angle, you’ll get a lake view. Turn around and you get the Milwaukee skyline!
The venue is right next to another one of Milwaukee’s best wedding venues – the Milwaukee Art Museum! You can use that beautiful building as an additional photo backdrop!
If there is downtime between your ceremony and reception, your guests might be able to enjoy the aquarium at Discover World, the art museum, or other Milwaukee businesses that are just steps away.
Since Discover World is downtown, it’s super convenient for your guests to shuttle, walk or drive to hotels.
But truthfully, we just love how beautiful it is! 🙂
