A Milwaukee Domes Wedding
Pure joy is the best way I can describe these two together, and their Milwaukee Domes wedding!
Catherine and Nick held their wedding ceremony in a Burlington church. The same church where generations of Catherine’s family held their weddings!
After taking some wedding photos at a park in Burlington, we headed to the Mitchell Park Domes for their reception.
While their guests enjoyed cocktail hour, we had the Milwaukee Domes all to ourselves for the most dreamy portraits!
They read the sweetest private vows to each other outside of the Domes, and then Catherine surprised Nick with the cutest cigar bar (he had no idea!). They set it up just outside the domes, a few steps from their reception space.
The wedding reception took place in Greenhouse No 7, a Milwaukee wedding venue run by Zilli Hospitality Group (it’s all connected to the domes!). After reading their vows, Catherine and Nick shared a unique, private moment. They soaked in the beauty of their reception space in Greenhouse No. 7 before guests came in. It’s like a “reception sneak peek” and it was such a sweet moment! It resulted in some of my favorite photos from the day.
They topped the night off with a private dance in the domes. Also some of my favorite photos from the day!
Not to mention, they sure know how to throw a party! Let’s just say they had a DJ (A Personal Touch DJ) and a live band (Lunchmoney Bullies)! It was a great space for their live band – tons of dancing room and space for the rest of their guests to spread out!
One of the best wedding venues in Milwaukee
I’ll tell you why I think the Mitchell Park Domes and Greenhouse No. 7 is one of the best wedding venues in Milwaukee, especially for your wedding photos!
First of all, I am a big fan of venues that have great backup options for rainy days. On this wedding day, the weather was beautiful, and we still took advantage of the indoor features of the venue! But if your wedding is on a cold winter day, or on a rainy day, you won’t miss a beat with your photos. The translucency of the domes means you get beautiful, soft natural light. And of course you still have that outdoor backdrop with the greenery inside the domes!
No matter the weather, you’ll end up with a large variety of photos between the domes, the greenhouse and the park and paths that surround the venue.
Greenhouse No. 7 is incredible for the same reasons. Zilli Hospitality Group describes it as a “glass house” under the stars. But when the stars aren’t shining quite yet, the glass house provides that same soft natural light as the domes. This results in breathtaking photos of your reception details (just take a peek below!).
The reception space itself gives couples tons of versatility too. It’s a huge space (7,600 square feet to be exact), and has a capacity of up to 400 guests for a seated dinner.
I mentioned that Catherine and Nick had a DJ and a live band at their wedding, and it was such a great space for it!
The structure and the globe chandeliers are beautiful all by themselves – your wedding guests will be in awe the second they walk in!
The Mitchell Park Domes are also centrally located in the Milwaukee area. There are a ton of options for hotels nearby, and it makes for an easy commute for guests coming from any part of the state.
Why I love greenhouse weddings in Wisconsin!
See above! I can’t get enough of greenhouse wedding venues in Wisconsin, and it all has to do with that gorgeous, soft natural light. The glass lets natural light in and acts as a diffuser, so it spreads the light out in a soft, even way. Your reception details and photos (before it gets dark) will be bright, airy and beautiful!
Greenhouses also provide a great photo backup for rainy days. We don’t have to try to find an alternate indoor option for your wedding photos, because your indoor greenhouse photos are just as light and airy as outdoor photos (for reasons mentioned above!).
Because of its size and its location within the Mitchell Park Domes, Greenhouse No. 7 in Milwaukee is one of my favorite greenhouse wedding venues!
Here’s a glimpse into Catherine and Nick’s wedding day, from beginning to end!
A Mitchell Park Domes Wedding: Photos in the domes
After taking photos outside, we took couples photos of Catherine and Nick in each of the domes! It’s such a great location for wedding photos. It’s especially great if your wedding is in the winter, or on a rainy day. You’d barely notice we’re inside taking photos – the natural light, greenery and flowers make it a perfect place for wedding day portraits!
