Wisconsin has no shortage of barn wedding venues, and it can be hard to narrow them down when you’re searching for the perfect one! To get your ideas flowing, I am sharing four of my favorite barn wedding venues in Madison, with photos! I personally love barn venues that have a touch of modern and elegance to them. Natural light, great outdoor spaces, and ample space are all positive additions to a barn venue. It is important to consider backdrops for photos (do you want them all near the barn, or do you want some extra space or fields to add variety to your photos?), a back-up plan for inclement weather (is there enough room on the inside of the barn to accommodate everyone?), and whether or not the aesthetic of the barn fits with what you’re dreaming of for your wedding day!
Some barn wedding venues in Madison are more “barn”, and some are more modern. Both options are great for wedding days, as long as it fits with your personality, relationship and what you envision your wedding day to look like. If you like the more rustic feel, I would choose a more traditional barn set up. If you want a touch of elegance, with a lighter, brighter aesthetic, I would go with more of a modern barn venue.
Here are four of my favorite barn wedding venues in Madison that I have had the pleasure of photographing! They all have a wonderful team of staff, beautiful set ups, and extra field space for gorgeous photos! Please note that because these are barn venues, they are located in the surrounding areas of Madison.
1. The Eloise Wedding Barn
This is definitely on the modern spectrum of wedding barn venues! The Eloise is different from most barn venues in that it is white on the inside and out! It has gorgeous vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, bringing in plenty of natural light. The venue has a beautiful bridal suite and equally sophisticated groomsmen suite. It’s located in Mount Horeb, about 20-30 minutes outside of Madison, and has indoor and outdoor spaces for wedding ceremonies. The wooded area and open fields around The Eloise make for great portrait opportunities, and even sunset/golden hour photos!
2. Harvest Moon Pond
First of all, Stephanie, one of the owners of the Harvest Moon Pond, is the sweetest person to work with! Huge bonus when you are planning a wedding. The Harvest Moon Pond in Poynette is a great mix of traditional barn with modern elegance. It has a HUGE outdoor space and patio for entertaining guests, and a gorgeous ceremony space set in front of a gigantic willow tree. You don’t have to leave the property to get a variety of photos…It’s surrounded by quaint gravel trails, wooded areas, a pond and fields. The outside of the venue itself also makes for a pretty backdrop!
3. The Fields Reserve
The Fields Reserve in Stoughton has a modern feel on the outside, with a more rustic, traditional barn look on the inside. It has two buildings to accommodate ceremonies and receptions, and it also has a large outdoor ceremony space that will make you feel like you’re out in the middle of the woods! The outside of the barns are light colored, and make for beautiful backdrops.
4. White Oak Savanna
The White Oak Savanna is little farther outside of Madison, in Dodgeville, but worth the drive! It looks like a barn, inside and out, so it’s perfect if you’re going for the rustic vibe. What some other traditional barn venues don’t offer, however, is the gorgeous land this venue sits on. Trails and fields appear to stretch for acres outside of this venue. If you want an outdoor ceremony that’s surrounded by Mother Nature and feels secluded, they have the space for you. I would personally choose the outdoor ceremony space located just outside of the barn, with the beautiful rolling hills in the background. This venue might be the best venue I’ve seen so far for golden hour/sunset opportunities too. The back of it faces west, and the sun just bursts through the trees and fields.
