Flashback to a Doty Park wedding
I absolutely love Doty Park in Neenah for weddings and engagement sessions. One of my best friends had her wedding at Neenah’s Whiting Boathouse in 2018, and we took pictures in Doty Park. This was shortly before I became a wedding photographer (and before I even knew I wanted to be one), and I remember just watching her two photographers all day. Loving them (they were a husband and wife team – it’s funny to see the parallels now!), but also feeling slightly jealous of them and not knowing why! (Let me make it clear though, I also spent a lot of time on the dance floor.)
Her wedding photos in Doty Park were absolutely stunning – the lake, the bridge, the beautiful foliage in the summer. Fast forward a few years, and here I am! Living my dream, and also taking photos of beautiful couples at Doty Park
While we live in Madison, we love to travel around the state of Wisconsin. Neenah feels like a piece of home (I’m from Oshkosh – a quick drive away!). It was nostalgic being back at Doty Park (if you can call four years nostalgia), and the scenery did not disappoint!

We actually never even left the park for Sara and Austin’s engagement photos. We can do a lot in a small area, but Doty Park makes it even easier. These two are having their wedding in Appleton this summer, so Doty Park felt like a fitting, sentimental place to take their engagement photos.
Not to mention, we had THE most gorgeous golden hour! I love the sun and sunset any day, but this one just felt extra dreamy. Or maybe it’s the way Sara and Austin just giggled and glowed the whole time, making our job super easy.
Austin told me he planned to be a bachelor until he was 30. But everything changed the minute he met Sara. They said it was instantaneous. Some things just don’t go according to plan, in the best way possible.
I just love photographing this kind of love…The giggles, the gaze, the affection…I don’t have to prompt them much to smile or make each other laugh. It’s just so easy between them.
Sara brought the most adorable props to their engagement session. A small bouquet of roses, a hat that complemented her outfit perfectly, and a wooden chair that made for a great prop and backdrop for their ring shots.
