This is an extra special one for me! Erica happens to be one of my very best friends. She and I met at UW Oshkosh, where we played college tennis together. She even had to put up with me as her doubles partner! I cannot express how happy I am that these two found each other. Erica started dating Jake after I moved to Madison, so I didn’t get a chance to meet him right away. But when I did, I could tell these two were perfect for each other. Erica is the type of person who gets along with everybody. She has this ability to make you feel like you’ve known her for ages when you’ve just met her, and before long, you’ll have plenty of sarcastic inside jokes together. So it seems fitting that Jake would use a touch of sarcasm and one of the best comedies to ever grace the screen to propose to her. This is their proposal in Erica’s words:

“We LOVE The Office, so he fake proposed to me outside of this Office-themed popup bar in Milwaukee! He got down just like Jim did to Pam and was like, “Will you…Wait for me to tie my shoe?” And I was not happy! I thought it was so mean. It was us and another couple and they were in on the plan ahead of time. We had dinner reservations at a nice steak place downtown after with them, and he proposed for real at the end of our dinner when the restaurant was pretty emptied out.”

Erica said Jake was nervous when he got down on one knee at the restaurant because he finally had the ring in his possession (her friend had it in her purse most of the night)! I have a feeling Jake knew exactly what he was getting into when he faked proposed, but he also knows exactly what he’s gaining when he real proposed! I had SO much fun with these two during their engagement session. We seriously could not have asked for better fall colors, or for more picturesque pink and red leaves on the ground (In some ways, even more beautiful than a bed of rose pedals!). We walked around downtown Waukesha, found some beautiful sun, and ended the night at an adorable gelato shop where they had a date early in their relationship. It. was. perfect.

Love you two, and I can’t wait for your wedding next fall!!
