I used to babysit this girl!!! Okay, I technically watched her sister when Lyle was beyond the point of needing a sitter. But still. She’s getting married! Crazy. I’ve known Lyle’s family for many years, and I ended up watching her sister because we both have type 1 diabetes. Lyle’s family is heavily involved with JDRF, an organization very close to my heart and theirs, and I still see her dad on JDRF bike rides!
For Lyle and Joe’s engagement session, we went to one of my favorite places to photograph – Indian Lake County Park in Cross Plains. It’s only about 15 minutes from the west side of Madison, but it honestly feels like you’re in a different country when you get there! Indian Lake is one of the largest parks in Dane County, and across the street are old farmstead ruins. It’s arguably one of the most popular places for photographers to go in Madison. The ruins make for a unique, enchanting backdrop, and it reminds me of something you might see in Italy!
On the day of their engagement session, it was cloudy and gloomy all day. And then about a half hour before sunset, the sun came out. In full force. It. Was. Gorgeous. As Lyle said, it had to be a sign. These two are perfect for each other!!
