There are so many amazing Madison engagement photo locations, and some of them are more hidden than others. Bailee and Adam hit two of those locations for their engagement session – one that’s a little more well known, and another one I like to consider a hidden gem in downtown Madison.

UW Madison Arboretum

We started their engagement session at the UW Madison Arboretum. I could take photos there for HOURS! I went location scouting there a few days in advance, and happened to wander into a part of the Arboretum I had never seen before. After a quick run, I thought I was walking back to my car…Instead I hit a line of trees and had no idea where I was! But I knew instantly that the bushes and flowers in that area were perfect for Bailee and Adam’s engagement session. I made a mental note of how I got lost, and luckily we found it again!

Period Garden Park

We ended their engagement session at Period Garden Park, near downtown Madison and James Madison Park. This is a little “hidden gem” that I love to suggest for photos when we are downtown. It’s a small garden, but it’s tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city, has a gorgeous fountain, and of course beautiful flowers!

Bailee and Adam have the SWEETEST love story, and Adam has set the bar pretty high as far as proposals go. The two met through church and had their first date at Michelangelo’s Coffee House in downtown Madison. On the day of Adam’s proposal, some of Bailee’s friends told her they were going to go downtown for a BFF photoshoot. They suggested a stop at Michelangelo’s first, and when Bailee walked in, Adam was already sitting there. She instantly knew she had been “duped,” but Adam kept her waiting for the rest of the day. They revisited some of their favorite spots in Madison.

The whole time, Bailee knew what was going on, but neither one of them acknowledged it. She said she felt so nervous, and I can picture them both wriggling with anticipation, neither one acknowledging the elephant in the room. Finally, Adam took her downtown by the Capitol building, where he had a picnic blanket, a hand-written letter, and a proposal waiting for her. Cue all the “awwwws!”
